Alexandrovich
(1838-1908), Lieutenant General, member of the Council of the Grodno Sofia Orthodox Brotherhood.
Born on November 8, 1838, he joined the company of topographers of the Military Topographic Depot in 1853. He graduated from the College of Topographers in 1863, with the production of ensigns.
Performed geodetic and topographic work on the Orenburg trigonometric measurement, on the triangulation of the Moscow province, reconnaissance of the Kovno province.
In 1870 he graduated from the geodesic department of the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff, enrolled in the category of surveyors of the KW. He was attached to the Military Topographic Department of the General Staff with a secondment to level and survey the Baltic Railway.
Since 1872 – Junior assistant to the head of the Geodetic Department of the Military Topographic Department of the General Staff. Using a telegraph, he determined the longitude differences: Pulkovo – Moscow (1872) together with Captain A.R. Bonsdorf and Staff Captain P.P. Kulberg; Pulkovo - Vienna; Vienna – Warsaw; Warsaw – Pulkovo (1875) together with Colonel N.Ya. Zinger and Austrian surveyor Ferdinand Anton.
Participant of the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-1878 – Assistant to the chief of the military topographical department of the field staff of the active Danube Army.
In 1878-1884 – Assistant to the head of the Geodetic Department of the Military Topographic Department of the General Staff. He determined with the help of a telegraph the difference in longitude of Chisinau – Nikolaev (1880) together with Colonel M.N. Lebedev. In 1881, he supervised the survey of Gatchina – the city plan was personally ordered by Emperor Alexander III.
In 1884, he was appointed head of the survey of the Bessarabian province, then head of the survey of the Grodno province. In 1897, he was offered the position of head of the Cartographic Institution of the Military Topographical Department of the General Staff, but he refused.
